Like everyone, my phone is my life, which makes stationery a little less essential. As a designer though, I believe there's a time and place for hands on creative. There's nothing like opening a crisp, new notebook to a blank page (with the perfect, smooth stock and weighted gsm) as opposed to clicking 'New doc.' I've designed all kinds of stationery over the years, from notebooks and diaries to colouring books, pens, cards, wrap and everything in between.
There's a few stationery items that have me in a chokehold. First, greeting cards. From ridiculous memes to sweary birthday wishes, I love creating original, one off designs. Second, I love designing and curating product collections that balance print, colour, and materials for a cohesive, yet dynamic range. Third, I'm passionate about products that inspire creativity, like the feature artist colouring books and calendars I've designed for Typo. Early in my career, one of my illustrations was featured in Stolen Publications, a bi-annual Australian magazine celebrating handmade art and analogue artists. This really sparked my desire to remain an analogue artist and to create stationery that inspires people to find their creative outlet.
